Coaching for Fathers Seeking Lasting Change

A custom plan for those who demand a more tailored approach.

Who We’ve Worked With

do I really need Personalized coaching?

No, not everyone does.
Generic programs, with a few tweaks, work fine for most.
But here’s why you might need something more tailored:

You value precision and efficiency

You want expert guidance from a professional to fine-tune your training. Using strict principles of behavioral science and strategically adapting training as you progress.

You have specific goals that aren’t met by off-the-shelf solutions

Whether it’s preparing for a specific event or needing to work around unique physical requirements, a custom plan ensures that every aspect of your training is aligned with your objectives.

You’re seeking more than a “workout routine”

You’re looking for a comprehensive approach that encompasses physical training, sleep, nutrition, and environmental health guidance to transform your overall well-being.

Why some might pass on Custom Coaching:

Commitment considerations

It’s an investment. If you’re not ready to commit mentally and financially, it might not be the right time.

Satisfaction with the status quo

If you’re achieving your goals with current methods, crack-on, you’re doing well.

If you’re seeking significant, clear-cut change and your current plan isn’t working, it’s probably time to try coaching.

how it works

01

Coaching Kick off

After sign up, we’ll discuss your goals and any challenges you face in achieving them.

It’s also a chance for you to assess your coach, me.

02

assessment

We don’t test just to look “sciency.” If it doesn’t directly inform your training, we won’t waste your time. Your initial assessment may include a movement analysis, performance testing, blood panels, urine and saliva sampling, and sleep analysis — all performed remotely.

03

Program Design

Once we understand your profile, we’ll compare it to where you want to be and design a comprehensive plan to bridge the gap.

This includes physical training, nutrition, sleep, lifestyle, and environmental adjustments – delivered via our app.

04

Ongoing Support

All programs are adaptable. Together, we’ll monitor your response to training and make continuous adjustments.

You’ll also have direct in-app communication —expect to be challenged.

I’m the one in the back!

Hi, I’m Ryan Hicks.

If you’ve come this far, there’s a good chance you already know a bit about me. If not, let me introduce myself.

I’ve been a coach and sports scientist for over 15 years, working with a wide range of athletes and organizations, from Paralympic world record holders and professional rugby players to elite organizations like the NFL and RFU.

Here are some of the areas I specialize in:

Athletes from Unique Sports
I’ve worked across a diverse range of sports, including contact sports, gymnastics, MMA, track and field, and even platform driving.

Expertise in Rehabilitation
I bring extensive knowledge of return-to-performance strategies, not just for sport but also in neurorehabilitation, helping individuals recover from brain and spinal cord injuries.

Youth Athletic Development
I’ve coached elite youth academies and a national under-20s team, helping young athletes build strong foundations for long-term success.

Whether you’re an elite competitor, tackling a unique physical challenge, fighting your way back from a setback, or a dad looking for coach looking for change, I’d love to help.

Frequently asked questions

I coach individuals who want a tailored approach to training — whether for athletic performance, returning from injury, or making long-term health changes. If you need something beyond a generic program, this is for you.

No. While I’ve worked with elite athletes, this project is about providing evidence-backed programs for everyday people. Whether you’re a competitor or just serious about your health, I’d love to work with you.

You’ll receive a questionnaire to provide key details about your what you’d like to achieve, your training history, and lifestyle. We’ll then jump on a kick off call, where we’ll refine your plan and get started.

You’ll have direct in-app communication with me.

We’ll have regular check-ins calls (ideally weekly), to go over your progress and make adjustments. I’m a big proponent of evaluating training footage to provide feedback on technique and you’ll be able to message me whenever questions pop-up.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all plan — your training evolves with you and we’ll be working together through the entire process.

Ultimately, that all depends on what we plan to achieve. We can design your program around gym access, home equipment, or even bodyweight training.

I’ve literally trained rugby teams with nothing but a bag of axe handles! So, we’ll make it work.

This is entirely dependant on what we’re trying to achieve.

I typically program in 4-week blocks, because you never what will happen, but the plan itself could be much longer.

For example: An ACL rehab is on average 9 months. We’ll map out the end goal, then break down our plan into phases, with clearly defined KPIs at each stage.

Yes. Trainng is training, no matter the aim.

If you’re returning from an injury, we’ll work together to create a return-to-performance plan. We’ll instill the confidence you need to get back in the game.

There is no commitment period.

The coaching is billed monthly, but real change takes time. If you’re looking for quick fixes, this isn’t it.

If you’re ready for sustainable progress, I’m here to help.

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee if you find my coaching isn’t the right fit for you.

And, you can cancel anythime.
